Dan Sullivan at the Strategic coach has a concept called the Four C’s.
Committent
Courage
Capability
Confidence

For any new area of progress in your life, for any new initiative to be successful you will not only need to be committed, but you will need courage. This comes way before any new capabilities you may acquire (with regard to the new project) and certainly before you are confident about the new area working well. Courage is the key ingredient.
When taking on a new project, or job, or change in your life, it’s perfectly normal to be afraid. Let’s face it, it’s risky. It might not work out.
However, there is a big difference between fear and courage. Being afraid of something is totally different from being courageous. A firefighter rushing into a burning building is always afraid something bad might happen. The person’s life might be at stake. But they still rush into the building because they have courage, a lot of it.
Likewise, the fireman has to be used to being in situations in life (like being in a fire) where they are often afraid but also always exhibiting courage. This state of being for a fire fighter is very normal.
For you to have constant growth in your life, you MUST put yourself into situations where you are afraid; afraid you might fail, afraid it might not work, afraid it won’t turn out the way you want. But for you to have real progress and breakthroughs in these areas, you will still need to go forward with it. It will only happen if you have the courage to go forward, just like the fire fighter.
There can be no progress in life unless you are afraid it might not work out AND you must have the courage to get on with it.
Playing it safe will never generate the leaps and big areas of growth that are necessary to produce the greatest results in life.
Only after you are committed and only when you exhibit the courage to move forward will your new capabilities begin to appear and then finally, only then, will you create the next level of confidence for yourself.
Then, do this over and over again for the rest of your life.
Here is a video of Dan Sullivan explaining.
Daniel, Sydney and I have been practicing this our entire lives. Every single time over the years that we have taken on new projects and new stores, we have been afraid. We committed ourselves and we had the courage to take the chance to make it happen for our families, our associates, and our communities.
Go make it happen for yourself. Get committed to what you want to do and then get the courage to move forward. Yes, mistakes will happen, and yes it might not work out right way. Keep at it, fix the problems, solve the issues, one day at time, and keep going. You will gain new capabilities along the way and you will become more and more confident as time goes by.
Trust me…it will be worth it.
